In Japan, items larger than 30cm on any side (e.g., furniture, mattresses, bicycles, large appliances, suitcase, luggage) are classified as "Sodai Gomi" (Bulky Waste). These cannot be disposed of at regular garbage areas and require a prior application.
1. Using Local Municipal Service (Recommended)
This is the most affordable method, but it may take several weeks to get a pickup date. We recommend booking as early as possible before your move-out date.
Step 1: Make a Reservation Search for your local "[Your Ward/City] Oversized Garbage Center" online and schedule a pickup. They will inform you of the collection date and fee.
Step 2: Buy Disposal Stickers Purchase "Sodai Gomi stickers" at a nearby convenience store and attach them to your items.
Step 3: Place Items Outside On the scheduled date, place the items at the designated collection point (usually near the building entrance where collection staff can access and pick up). ** Please note that placing items outside on non-collection days may result in fines.
2. Other Options
Selling/Donating: Use online platforms like Mercari or Jimoty.
Second-hand Stores: Check if local stores will accept your items.
Important Reminder for Move-out
Please ensure all personal belongings are removed by your move-out date.
Any leftover items will result in additional disposal charges.
If you are unsure whether an item belongs to Hmlet, please refer to the property inventory list.
